Design registration covers the commercial gain to the owner or organisation due to the unique attributes of creative expression. It includes and is not limited to the specific form, shape, structure, pattern, ornament, color, and composition of two and/or three-dimensional objects. It could also cover the creative process that could be manual, industrial, mechanical, chemical, or a combination of two or more methodologies. The end product is evaluated by eyesight to ensure it does not include the work, trademarks, or mechanics of an existing product.
Registration of design is mandatory before commercial use or display of said product or article lest it results in the prohibition of ownership. The validity of the registration stands for 10 years, renewable for every 5 years after that.
